Wow, Do Not Put Yourself Out, Really...

Yep, had to drag Ye 'Ol Soapbox out for this one....

As you know my gallbladder is not functioning, which in return is causing me somewhat of A LOT of pain. I was referred to a surgeon last week, that, was on spring break. Go figure! I was given an appointment of 3 pm on Wednesday. WHAT?? I could not wait that long so when I complained, I was told by my doctors office (which set up the appointment) to call everyday for a cancellation. So I call everyday, beginning the moment I hung up my phone with my doctor, to get in sooner. Of course everyday, I was told there were not cancellations, but if the pain worsens to go to the ER.

Well I called again yesterday, well because I guess I was feeling stupid lucky, and again was told, sorry, but if it gets worse to go to the ER. I am not an ER person, but have thought about it a lot, especially in the middle of the night, but then I try to hold on, and I do, which brings me to today.

The surgeon's office just called, guess what?? The lady on the phone says, we have a cancellation, (I'm thinking to myself, great, Hopefully in the next 10 minutes) Do you think you could come in at 2:30 tomorrow instead of 3. WHAT??? ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? THAT"S WHAT YOU CALL GETTING ME IN EARLIER????????

Of course I took it, I did not want to look ungrateful. Geeze, I give up. Oh well, what's 24 more hours, right?

BTW, don't forget, if you have not already done so, go here and leave a comment for this book!! I will draw for a winner tomorrow evening sometime!

Net Trigger Giveaway!

Our pastor, Dr. Mark Gregory, just had his first book published, Net Trigger. Needless to say everyone is so excited for him. What I have heard, it's it wonderful. I just purchased the book myself, but have just begun the book, but what I have read has been wonderful. Here is the book and it's description:

The Federal Bureau of Investigation receives an anonymous tip of an international technology company's plot to shut down the Internet and create a national security risk. They also obtain photographic negatives from a 24-year-old 35-millimeter camera depicting passengers struggling to survive a Convair 580 plane crash. The resolution of the crisis can only be found in the remains of the crash, deep in the Campeche jungle of Mexico. Though separated by decades, two timelines converge as Agent Darin Newsom and a team from Honduras search for the wreckage and the documents that can stop the countdown of the "net trigger."

I am so very excited for him and for his book, that I purchased a book for one of y'all! If you so happen to win, Dr. Mark will also sign it for you! I know, it's great to have connections!!

So how do you win? First leave a comment on this post and of course that will get you entered into the drawing. If you would like to have a second entry into the drawing, mention this on your blog, then come back and leave me another comment and you will get another chance at winning it.

If you so happen not to be the lucky winner, you can order Net Trigger off of Amazon & Barnes and Noble, and if you live in Middle Tennessee, you can purchase it from Life Way. Of course any Life Way store can order it for you and you can avoid the S&H. Either way, you will not be disappointed!!

I will close the contest sometime Wednesday evening and announce the winner on Thursday morning. Good Luck!

To God Be The Glory

I have been singing this song all day, To God be the glory, great things He has done... then I got the call from Hubby

He received the new of his biopsy this afternoon and it's benign! Yay! Thanks so much for praying. We are so relieved! They will check it again in six months to make sure there are no changes.

God is good, and to Him be the Glory for the great things he has done!

A Few Things That Make Me Smile

First, I wanted to thank y'all for all your prayers. It means so much to us and as soon as we know more, I will pass it on. We should have hubby's results tomorrow. As of right now, I am not scheduled to meet with the surgeon until next week, unless things get worse, or there is a cancellation. We are right now, focus on Him and His plans and not worrying about the small stuff!

Now for a few goofy things that makes me smile!

I love baby goats, they have such personalities. Check out Robin, our newest addition....See her smiling?? Awwwww, she is so cute and spoiled! She loves Bradley and when he goes outside and hollers for her she always runs and jumps until she gets to him!! That makes me smile!

Since DJ and Joey are in Florida living the high life, at night it has been just me and Bradley hanging out at home. Since I have been a little under the weather, we have not done to much but lay around and watch TV. Last night I made Bradley some cheesy eggs and while I was making them he told me to turn around and look what he made.....

He was goofing off with some craft supplies I had laying on the island. Bradley told me, and I qoute, "Take a picture, this is blog worthy"!! That made me smile!

Something that makes me smile everyday is of course my Higgins! He brings so much joy to my life! Each and every night he sleeps with me, right next to my back, flat on his back, with all four legs in the air. Sometimes he snores so loudly that it wakes me and hubby up....no joke!!

Our bed is very high off the ground and I use a step stool to get up in it. This morning after I got up for work, I was having a hard time getting my butt in gear and laid back down, Higgins wanted up on the bed so badly, but I did not want to twist around and lean down to get him, so I didn't. Higgins ran to the living room got his duckie and jumped on my bed!! I kid you not, he just flat footed jumped right in the bed. So, this much be a once in a life time thing, so I threw his duckie, he jumped off the bed, ran to get it and jumped again, flat footed, into my bed!! I could not believe it.....he did it fives times this morning!

I measured my bed and from the floor to the mattress it is 3 feet. I measured Higgins legs and they are 5 inches long! That folks is total love for his mama!! After I quit throwing his duckie, he grabbed his blanket, covered up and was ready for a snooze. That makes me smile, a lot!!

Update & I'm Asking For Your Prayers

First, The HIDA Scan was not as bad as I had envisioned it to be. I survived with a mild headache and a pretty purple bruise on my arm! Note to self: quit googling medical procedures!

The bad news is: My gall bladder is not functioning. That means I will have to get it removed. I am none to happy about that. My nausea started going away today so I thought I was getting better, but while in Wow-mart, I started having some mild pain and now it is hitting me full force. Hopefully it will subside for a while, because I really want to put this off as long as I can!! :) At least until next week. You know it is all about my procrastination!!

I now have a prayer request for y'all. I have been pretty quiet about this for a while. Hubby did not want it public knowledge until we saw the doctor. We saw the doctor today so now I am asking for your prayers.

Hubby's thyroid is enlarged on the right side. The doctor that found it wanted him to see a specialist because it was enlarged beyond his expertise. Today we saw said specialist and the appointment went really well. They did go ahead and proceed with a biopsy today. Hubby did really well, I was so proud of him. They are checking to see if it's pre-cancerous, benign or malignant.

The doctor was very reassuring and if it's bad news, he feels that we caught everything early and they will do surgery and radiation with the success rate being great with the thyroid and he sees no complications. Of course we are a little anxious and it seems like everything is hitting all at once.

Please join us in praying for Jeremy. We are praying for a calming peace while we wait for the results and of course a clean biopsy. If the test comes back showing that there is something more, we pray for a quick and successful surgery and complete healing of this. We know our God is a Mighty God and we are putting our full trust in him with this situation.

I thank you way in advance for your prayers and will let you know what is going on when we get the biopsy results back!

I Rather Diet!

Today is the day. The day for my HIDA Scan, and I would rather be beat to death. Well, really not to that extreme. I dread this like I dread a diet! Yep, it's that bad!

Do you know what they do to you during the HIDA Scan?? I have Google it, and I can tell you I am not looking forward to it. Just maybe the horror stories on the Internet are just that, horror stories, so I will give you an update on what really happens!!!

Pray for me, at noon sharp, I am going to need it. Maybe the rapture will happen before I go in....that's a thought!!

Glory Grabber!

Have you ever had a spiral of unknown aches and pains. We are having that in our household. Hubby is having his issues and not to be outdone I had to join the party and have one of my own. Around our house when someone is sick, not feeling well or injured and then another one of us, during the one's episode of being sick or whatever, has something wrong or gets sick, we call them a "Glory Grabber"

Well folks I am a glory grabber. Usually hubby takes that title, but not this time! I think I am having a gall bladder attack. Ugh! It has been a very long few days to say the least! I felt whiny Tuesday, felt pretty bad Wednesday and I woke up Wednesday night, with what I thought was a stomach virus. I started praying hard that God would take it away from me. After a few sharp pains, I realized that it was not a stomach virus, but a gall bladder attack, so I started praying that God would give me a stomach virus instead. I am wishy washy that way!

I have an appointment on Monday for a HIDA Scan, which I am not a happy camper about. Last time this happened I got better, and I hope that I will get better again. I hear that each time it gets worse until you do something about it! I am rather grumpy about that! I hate hospitals, doctors and anything to do with both!

I have been stalking the y'alls blogs, but not really been leaving many comments, so hopefully I will catch up this weekend, when of course, I WILL BE FEELING BETTER!!

On a side note, DJ and Joey took a Spring break trip to Florida to see Hubby's family. They left this morning and made it safely. I will miss them so terribly much, but it looks like it may have been for the best with me not feeling well.

I guess that is my quick wrap up of my week. I have been a boring blogger, but the computer is the last thing I have been thinking of the last few days.

Lots Of Celebrating!

Today is Connie's 65th birthday. Connie is the most wonderful, sweetest, loving person that I have ever had the pleasure of being friends with. The most awesome thing is that I work with her and Hubby and I teach the 3rd grade Sunday School class together with her!! It's a good things she likes us!! He he! Anyhoo.....

Again, today she turned 65, and I am ever so devastated that she might just retire. She thinks that working till she turns 85 is a little out of the question, but if you ask me, the church walls will crumble to the ground the day she retires!! She go's way above and way beyond as a ministry assistant and right hand lady to our pastor, and we all love her so much! She is also the best proof reader this side of the Mississippi and can find a place for a semi-colon in just about any thing we have her proof! A-MAZE-ING!!

So how do you begin to throw a birthday celebration for someone like Ms Connie?? You wake up really, really early to try your best to beat her to the office. So here is how my day begin...
  • Woke up at 5:30 am
  • Get the cake to the Jeep
  • Take the bowl of icing to the Jeep
  • Grabbed the flowers
  • Got the camera
  • Purse
  • Forgot my glasses (oops!)
Finally on the road at 6:15am heading to church making a mental note of I need to pick my contacts up from the eye doctor and I need to find something to take for this killer headache that I am going to have because I am blind as a bat, and driving with no glasses on, is quite the feat!

On the way to church, I called April, the children's director to see if she was awake and getting the balloons and streamers for Connie's office, yep, she was on her way! We decided on the phone to park on the other side of the church so when Connie got to work, she would not see our cars and hopefully the surprise would be a surprise!

I unlock the door next to the Youth room, granted I had two bags in my hands, a cake, a pot of flowers, my purse, my keys and a bowl of icing. I had so much in my hands that I could barely unlock and open the door. As soon as I opened the door and turned to turn off the alarm system, the alarm starts going off!! I forgot that the Youth room door does not have a key pad and it set off the alarm when opened! I had a mild heart attack, dropped everything, kicked off my heels and started running to the key pad, at the other door, to turn off the alarm. Then I ran to the office to unlock it and turn off that alarm to get to the phone to answer it to tell them that I was safe and that I was the one to set the alarm off!! It was a very anxiety producing moment.

So after I went back to the pile I left on the floor, I set out to get things ready for the big day. I...
  • iced the cake
  • unlocked Connie's door and set her flowers in her office
  • made the coffee for her
  • helped April get the loot in from her car

We then proceed to blow up countless balloons and decorate her office with streamers!! I think she was surprised!

(Really, there are streamer and balloons, you just can't see them!!)

One other surprise we had up our sleeves was we wanted to surprise her with lunch at her favorite restaurant. So we had her hubby come and pick her up for lunch. What she did not know was that he was on a mission for us. He drove real slow, went to the bank and then made a wrong turn, while the rest of the office staff raced across town to be at the restaurant waiting for her when she walked in!! Mission accomplished and it was a perfect time had by all!!

(This picture, is Cindy, the Worship Pastor's wife, entertaining the staff with a song of E-I-E-I-O, with puppet fingers!! We are so easily entertained! See how our pastor and Ms Connie is enjoying the show!!)

Check out the church sign that our Associate Pastor put up, one side said:

The other side said:

All she said was, "that Mike, he left out a semi-colon"! Ahahaha!! Too Funny!

Happy Birthday Ms. Connie, I so Luvie Duvie you!! You're the best!!!

Another Great thing about March 16th? It's Hubby's mom's birthday too!! What a great day of birthday's! Hubby's mom lives in Florida, so we did not get to celebrate with her on her special day, but I am sure, she had a great day!! Happy Birthday Mom, Love you! Check out Jenny's blog to see a picture of Hubby's mom! (Jenny is Hubby's sister.)

Busy, Busy Weekend With Pictures!!

Okay, where to start this busy weekend post....how about Friday night!! Victoria, Joey's best 'cuz, as he calls her, had a birthday Friday and she turned 11. We all went to the bowling alley to celebrate. Here is a picture of her and Joey.

For those of you that have girls and teenage girls, it is very easy to get them to smile for the camera. For me however, haveng all boys, I would have a easier time lining them for flu shots before I would ever get a smile from them!! It took forever and tons of pictures trying to get DJ and Bradley to smile while I took a picture of them with their 'cuz Breeann. I finally get a good picture of DJ smiling and Breeann does this....

So here I go again in the quest to get a decent picture of them and finally I capture this...

Trust me this was no easy task...well I take that back, DJ and Breeann was much easier than Bradley and Breeann, that took forever. Never fails, Bradley finally smiles and right on cue, Breeann does this...

UGGGGHHHHHH!! So a few more thousand picture later I finally got this of them.....

Finally a decent picture!!

So after bowling guess were we went??? Can you guess????

We actually made it through supper without incident and believe it or not, the po-po never had to make a visit....at least while we were there!!

On to Saturday!!

Our Children's Director is doing a major overhaul of the children's wing. Our church is located in Murfreesboro, so she thought it would be appropriate to transform our children's wing into "Kidzboro". Each room is being decorated into different themes consisting of a town, everything from a pizzeria, aquarium to a gas station and game room. I have the pleasure of decorating the room called "Kidzboro Backstage" which will be transformed into a Broadway backstage room. I forgot to get pictures of my entire room of the "before", so I did snap a couple of the walls that are not transformed yet, so you could get the "before" look. I do not want to post the after pictures yet until the big revel!! So here are a couple of before......with after pictures to follow soon!

I started on the room at 8:15 am on Saturday with myself thinking I would get the walls done that you cannot see, but I guess my idea of what I wanted to do was a little to big for my eyes, and I only got a fraction of it done. At 5 pm I had to stop and get ready for our mission spaghetti supper, so trust me it was a very long day!!

Also on Saturday, we had a new arrival on the farm....meet Robin!

We named her mama Susan after a lady that we go to church with, and yesterday she had the sweetest baby girl, so naturally we named her Robin, after Susan own daughter!! We're keeping with the family here!! Mama and baby are doing very well and will get to go and join the herd tomorrow!! Yay!

So that was my busy weekend. Today was very low key with church and an afternoon nap, just what I needed! Hope you had a great one!

My Blog Turned One Today!

Today, Blessings Amid Chaos, turns one! That folks, is exciting!! At least to me, that's exciting!

So what has happened in one year since I started blogging?? I think a bullet list would best suit this:

  • My laundry stays in piles and heaps on the laundry room floor, because I simply do not have the time.
  • My kids have learned to cook, because I simply do not have the time to cook.
  • Hubby now cleans the house, because I simply do not have the time to clean.
  • The dogs have learned to give themselves baths, because I simply do not have the time to be bothered by clean animals.
  • Shopping? Not anymore, I simply do not have the time to shop.

You see, since I have started blogging, I simply do not have the time to do the ordinary day to day little life chores, because I am always reading and writing blogs!!

Nah, just teasing!

Since I started blogging this year, I have made the most wonderful bloggy friends. These friends are people for the most part I have never spoken a word too, but I consider a integral part of my life. You know who you are! Y'all are the people that leave me comments that make me laugh, send me e-mails when I am down to cheer me up and are just there to do what friends do. When I send out a request for a prayer for something going on in my life, y'all are the first to respond! Y'all are just wonderful people that I have meet during this year that I could not live without!

I love reading your blogs each day as well. For the longest time I just stalked most of the blogs that I have come to love, and then little by little my stalking just was not enough, and I started leaving comments, and those comments led to where I am today!

At the beginning I had a hard time writing about my life or daily events of our family. It was hard to be myself, well because sometimes I am just plain crazy and I was afraid that people would read my blog and be like, geeze, this lady needs to be committed! After I got past me fears and just started writing, I realized that y'all are just as crazy as I am!!!! Really, life in Tennessee or anywhere else, is basically the same. If you have kids, your life is crazy no matter how sane you are. And if you have children or teenagers, there is never an end to insane things to blog about, so in all honesty, I feel like I am normal because of y'all!! He he!!

In this past year, I have experience heartache due to family issues, I went on my first international mission trip to the Dominican Republic, adopted the most wonderful dog Higgins, dove into the would of a 16 year old driver in the house, and countless and numerous other life events and I was so proud to share them with all of you!!

Thanks for making my first year of blogging the most wonderful year that it was. Thanks for putting up with my soapbox moments, the happy times and the sad! I look forward to what my next year brings!

If You Saw What I Saw

In four months we will be on a plane heading to our mission trip to the Dominican Republic. Today I got to see a few pictures to where we will be heading, a small community named San Cristobal. It is in a remote area where the people there are in great need. My heart is heavy, and my thoughts are consumed by our up-coming trip. Last year was such a hard trip emotionally for me, with so much family issues invading my thoughts. Then with the what I saw, I was overwhelmed to say the least. I thought I was prepared with a mental picture in my mind of what I would be seeing, but nothing could of prepared me for what I saw, the smells, the environment that these dear people lived in. This year I am more prepared mentally and I am so incredibly excited that my Hubby will be going with me!

Good news, La Represa the community we worked in last year, was recently finished with the roof on the church being put on the building, plus banos (bathrooms, for my non Spanish speaking friends) and a Sunday school room for them! What a blessing that is. I can't wait to see the finished project!

This weekend our church is holding our annual "MARCH MISSION MADNESS" where we do mission projects around our town. The after a hard days work we all come together for a spaghetti dinner, which is cooked by our mission team. All money raised will help sponsor those who are going on our trip this year. Also this year we are launching a new campaign called "Buy-A-Block", where people can purchase a block for $25. In purchasing a block it is giving those an opportunity to be an integral part of our Mission trip! When they purchase a block they will get a piece of parchment paper where they can write down a scripture, a blessing, a prayer, a thought, whatever the Lord places on their hearts. This message will be taken with us and actually placed in the blocks of the walls as we build the church. What an awesome way to have a physical, as well as a spiritual, part of helping to spread the gospel in the Dominican Republic!

Please be in prayer for us this weekend as we work around our hometown and as we spread the awareness of international mission on Saturday evening!

Here is a song that I wanted to share with you. It has really touched me, so I hope you enjoy it along with a few pictures of the great beauty that awaits us in San Cristobal as we serve and minister to those there.

It's A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood

The sun is shining, the birds are singing and it's 78 degrees in beautiful Tennessee!! Yippee! Our windows are open and the breeze feels so incredibly scrumptious!

I guess we better enjoy it while it lasts, because our beautiful Spring time weather ends at nightfall! The temperature will drop and we will be at a high of 48 tomorrow, a whopping 30 degrees cooler than today!! UGHHH!

I AM READY FOR S-P-R-I-N-G!!! I am ready to wear flip flops everywhere I go, I am ready to be able to go somewhere without having to take extra clothing because one minute it's warm and the next it's cold....I am telling you, I am ready for warm weather!!

Ahem, one thing I am not ready for that Spring brings....ticks, wasps and all the creepy crawlers that emerge along with the pretty weather! Geeze, I am a hard one to please, huh?

Give Me My Hour Back!

Yes, we have all sprung forward, some more graciously than others, and this morning I am really needing my hour back! Why does one hour really seem to make such an impact?? Anyhoo, on to more important things....

Joey is doing much better, he was really touch and go on Friday, but the doctor wanted to wait for six hours before we did anything like the dreaded hospital. His body went through so much in four days, that I am sure if it were me, I would be dead! After about four hours and the exit of the medication he had in his system, he quit throwing up! I told him after he hit the prayer list at church and all our prayer warriors at Calvary started praying for him, that was the reason he got better!! (He smiled!) He has been extremely weak this weekend, and totally sick of being stuck in the house for days, not a good combination!

Yesterday he felt well enough to go to church, but on the way home he fell asleep and when he got home, he took a nap and went to bed at 8pm last night!! Hopefully he will start regaining his strength back!!

On another note of well being and recovery, my poor baby Higgin's had the dreaded "Snip, Snip" preformed on Friday!! I was a nervous wreck! One of my baby boy's was at home sick and the other baby boy was at the animal hospital getting his manly parts removed.....oh what is a mother to do! Higgin's made it through surgery fine, he moans an groans in front of me, but is his little chipper self in front of hubby and the boys!! Of course Jeremy gets mad when I baby him because he says I am totally being played, but don't all men do that?? (Sorry BFF!)

Anyhoo, it has been one crazy weekend of sickness and recoveries, and I am glad to say I was happy to see the sun rise and know that I was heading back to work. I am ready for some normal, but would love to have the extra hour that I lost, doing my normal!!

Have a great day!

Joey Update

We are home from the doctors. Joey has a full blown ear infection and bronchitis. His doctor was concerned because he is already on a strong antibiotic and since Monday he developed the ear infection and bronchitis, she wanted to take an aggressive approach to getting this nipped in the bud!

She gave Joey an injection of antibiotics and prescribed him another to take orally along with what he is already taking, along with prednison for five days. She also wants him to take his emergency inhaler every four hours.

Okay, so here is why I am having the panic inducing anxiety that I am having right now. I am not a fan of prednison, and I am worried with him taking it. I just got off the phone with the pharmacists, and my fears are still not totally relived. Also with taking two antibiotics and an injection of one, he is getting ready to have a killer yeast infection!

I know that we need to act aggressively before this turns into pneumonia, but good grief, I just do not like the amount of medications that he is taking or the type of medication for that matter! Oh well, I guess I need to trust the doctor and the pharmacist, because I really do not want him to have a visit to the hospital, but........UGHHHHHH!

Illness Abounds

***UPDATE***

Joey has a doctor appointment at 11am this morning. Since he is not feeling better and he threw up again the doctor wants to check for bronchitis and pneumonia. Say a prayer please and I will update later when we know more!

It has been a crazy few days around our home. Joey has been sick, really sick!

Monday I took him to the doctor with what I thought would be an ear infection, WRONG! He tested positive for the flu and strep, and by the time I got him home he was throwing up. Not a good day for him!

The whole family went on Tamiflu in the hopes that we will not get the flu as well. Joey went on it as well to lessen the symptom's of the flu, but I have not seen to much in the way of lessening going on!

This morning he was still asleep when I left for work, so pray that he does not still have a fever, or it will be back to the doctor we go, and I really do not want to infect everyone! My fear that it is turning into something more, because his coughing is really getting worse and is really hurting his chest.

Joey is hoping that he feels better because if he is, tomorrow is the day the doctor game him the okay to be back into the general public and he is wanting to go to his 'cuz, Victoria's birthday part.....we hear it's the event of the year, wink, wink!

I will keep you posted, but pray that he feels better!

Part 2 After The Final Rose: Why Jason Is An I-D-I-O-T!

Jason is a complete idiot! Let me guess, Part 2 will be Jason begging Deanna back, because he had a day to think about why his head and heart needs her more! Good government, give me a break!

For the life of me, who is the bigger idiot.....Jason or MOLLY! I would of told him to take a HIKE!! He is just going to dump you, because he is unsure of his feelings and keeps looking back rather than to his future!

Also, Bravo for Melissa! Great job holding your head up high! He is an idiot and trust me you are better off!

What about poor Ty???

Stick a fork in me, I am officially done, with the Bachelor! Too much drama and stupidity!

Higgin's In The Snow

Before I get started, I promise this blog is not turning in to an all inclusive Higgin's blog, it's just that he happens to be the only one that rolled out of bed this morning with me to go outside to check on the goats. It doesn't help that he is so MAN-tastically cute too!!

Anyhoo, this morning we woke up to a winter wonderland, and in Tennessee we get about one good snow a year, and I am hoping this is it!! One is good! When we went to bed there was nothing on the ground and this morning about 4 to 6 inches in our neck of the woods with some parts of Tennessee seeing 8+ inches!

When I first threw Higgins outside for his morning constitution, he did not budge past the part of the porch that was dry, so unto plan B. I ran in to get some warmer clothes on, picked him and my camera up and walked outside a ways and plumped his little butt into the snow. In some places his little feet never hit the ground below, so he had to hop like a bunny all over the place....soooo cute!!

This is the view from our front porch...

This is Higgins when he first hit the snow...thank goodness the area in our back yard is small and well protected so it does not get that much snow, so he did not fall in tummy deep!

Another view of our front yard.

Higgin's has just about had enough by this point!

Of course one more of Higgin's little precious little foot prints going up the steps of our deck!

That's the extent of my snow pictures, after we came back in I went back to bed until 10:30...YAY!!
