I Am So Thankful For…

I am very thankful today for my husband and boys!  I am such a lucky wife and mom to have been blessed and honored to play such a vital part in their lives.

I looked up the definition of family and it says: Two or more people who share goals and values, have long-term commitments to one another, and reside usually in the same dwelling place; A fundamental social group in society typically consisting of one or two parents and their children.

My definition of family is pretty simple.  It is us, plain and simple folks, who love each other for who we are.  Husband and wife working together to provide a Godly home for our children.  Parents who love our boys, regardless of who they are and choices they make,  right or wrong, being supportive and loving them through trials, achievements, triumphs and failures.  At the end of the day the ones you can count on to be there for you not matter what, is family.

It Is Done…Almost!

Finally the big reveal of our hardware floors!  They finally got done with the living room floor and the bedroom floor…yay!  All I can say is I am so excited!  I promise that after this I will try to refrain from oohs and ahhs about the floors.  After having carpet all of our lives and dealing with boys and dogs and the constant cleaning up after them, it is such a nice change.  The only bothersome thing I can say about hardwood floors, is that you sweep or dust mop them and you can turn around and see more dust..ugh!

The only thing left for the guys to install is our hall bath and some thresholds and we should be done.

Here are the final pictures of the living room and bedroom.  Please excuse the mess in my bedroom, but I am packing for our trip tomorrow.  I also forgot to take a picture of the stairs, but I am sure you are tired of the wood floors already and are thrilled I forgot to take a picture!  Ha!

Wood Floor Debacle Day 4

I am ready to move on from the wood floor extreme makeover and am so ready to get back to living but day after day there is something that has gone wrong.

Our living room and hall are complete…our bedroom is complete…the upstairs foyer, hall bath and closet…NOT complete.  Why are they not finished?  They ran out of wood!!  Are you kidding me?  They ran out of wood??

My husband measured when we started to get an estimate on how much we would be spending.  Then the salesman came out and measured and added a little to Jeremy’s measurement to be on the safe side because you need to add 10% to make sure you account for any problems…which I was fine with.  So that is two measurements that were done.  Then they run out??  What is with that.  We are so hoping that the extra boxes are back at the shop.  Oh well…that’s how we roll at our house…nothing goes smoothly!

I am slowing getting things back in order, and as I am sitting here typing this, I remember that I forgot to take pictures today, so I will try to do that tomorrow or the next day when I start putting up Christmas decorations…I am so ready to start decorating for Christmas!  Have y’all started decorating for Christmas yet, or do you wait until after Thanksgiving?

Wood Floors Day Three

No great catastrophes or forgotten vital equipment today to warrant early termination of a full work day.  The poor  fellas were here a full day plus some!  Our living room is almost completely done except for a few pieces in the hall and some boards here and there on the edge of the stair case.  Tomorrow I am assuming they will finish the hall and living room, half bath and start on the master bedroom.  I am so ready to have my house back!

I started (or tried) to move some furniture back in.  The problem is that hubby is at work, DJ & Joey are at church and it is just me and Bradley, who is totally out of commission!  He is not one to watch and as I was struggling to move things in, he was wanting to help, so I just stopped.  I did get a few things in, but I guess the big things will have to wait!  Here are a few more pictures…

I can’t wait to see what it looks like with furniture tomorrow!!  Hopefully soon the wood floor saga will be over and I will move on from discussing it everyday!

I am so ready for Christmas decorations!!  If the house was not so tore to pieces, I would of drug the Christmas box down and started decorating the living room tree!

Surgery Day & Hardware Floors Day 2

Well today has been a really productive day or rather a very busy day.  Today Bradley had the hardware removed from last years football injury.  The good thing about today's surgery, is that it was scheduled much earlier than last year, so much less complaining from the teenager because of lack of food.  I praise God because it was not until after the happy medications and shoulder block that we were told that they were running later!  Yay for Bradley being too sleepy to realize it!

Of course in true blogging fashion here are a few pictures…

Well here is the day 2 update of the three day job of hardware floors being installed…

What I expected to be done today was the living room…and this is what actually did get done:

Apparently when you do a job some workers do not bring enough nails, so they have to leave for the day when they run out.  I feel like screaming….so I guess this three day job is going to turn into an entire week long process, because I can only imagine what they will forget tomorrow!

I am thrilled with the color choice though…what has been laid is beautiful!  I am very excited to see it finished!

Hardware Floors…Day 1

Today is the day, the first of three days of the laying of our hardware floors.  Our life for the past couple of days has been turned upside down, because my Hubby moved all of our furniture out on Saturday to be able to rip the carpet up, so today all they had to do was get busy laying the floors.

I think we are way to attached to couches, chairs and everyday luxuries, like being able to get to your stove…go figure!  It has been an interesting few days to say the least!!  :o)  Anyhoo, this morning I had no problem waking up when the alarm went off because I knew the quicker I go up and moving the quicker I could get to work and back home to see the beautiful floors.

Here is what I saw…

Uhhh, Honey what happened?  I was thinking that at the least maybe a couple of feet would be done…ya know more than a few inches…something I could at least put a foot or two on and feel the warm fuzziness of wood floors under my toes?

The installers air compressor went out, like died, where there was nothing else they could do but leave.  UGH!  So they will be back tomorrow.  As for now, we are still living with no furniture and not much access to the kitchen.  Oh well, it could be worse!

I think I will spend some quality time in prayer tonight for our friends that we helped and visited with, in the Dominican, that would be thrilled to live in a house with plywood floors.  I should not complain and be thankful that tomorrow is another day, another compressor and another day that I can pull through  a drive thru somewhere and pick food up for my family.

A Hodge Podge Of Everything

Wow, where to begin.  There is much to say, much to do and as always not enough time to get it all done.  I have not blogged much lately, but I stalk y’alls blogs often, just do not have time to comment.   I know…that’s bad, just stating the obvious!

First, if you do not follow my cousin April’s blog….I am a new cousin!  She and her husband, Brandon are bringing Harrison home from Taiwan this Thursday and I am just so excited!

Each year our church celebrates an annual Banquet of Tables, so I have been very busy last week getting ready for it.  My friend Pam and I did our table on a laundry theme, “Wrinkle Free Women” and we based our table on the verse Romans 6:4, “…Even so we also should walk in the newness of life.”  One of the guest that were in attendance was Ginny Owens…y’all, she was awesome!  Here are some pictures…

So that was last week and last night, which leads us to another very busy week.  Our wood floors are being installed tomorrow and our house is in (putting it nice) totally chaos.  We have our living room furniture in the kitchen, along with some of our bedroom furniture.  We have nightstand tables in the master bathroom and it is just total mayhem at our house.  It will be worth it, but right now,  it is craziness.

To top off the craziness of the week, Bradley is having surgery on Tuesday to have the hardware removed my his collarbone, from last years injury.

Wow, lots going on!!  So that's the hodge podge of my life the past few weeks and this week to come!  Hopefully after the next few days and after we get our house in order, I will have time to breath and hopefully relax as the Thanksgiving and Christmas season explodes around us!  Wishful thinking!!

Wood Floor, Halloween & Crash

Well we finally made a decision on the wood floor.  It was rough and trust me I took all y’alls advice to heart.  Friday we were back and forth on which color and when we finally made a decision, something or someone’s opinion would change our mind.

So what finally pushed us over the edge and made us choose a color?  Bradley went to keep our friends children for a couple of hours while they ran out and when Jeremy dropped him off and walked into their house, they had the same color in their living room.  He came by my office and told me that I would have to go over there and check it out because he thought I would love it.  So I did and I did love it so we called and ordered it right away before we changed our minds again!  So what color did we choose?  I know you are dying to to know….right?  We went with the light color, Natural Oak.  I can’t wait!  I am still a little nervous, but I think when it gets laid, it will be perfect!  Fingers crossed, it will be laid next week.

So, you know how most people get excited about dressing their children up and taking them out trick or treating.  We are not the normal and usually do not get to excited about it.  Not this year!!  So what changed?  I found Higgins the cutest rooster costume!!  Yep, the dog went trick or treating with Joey!!  Here are some pictures of our evening.  I’ll have to say Higgins & Joey looked mighty cute and they both really enjoyed themselves!

Higgins was worn slap out from his adventures so we all decided to crash in front of the TV for a little HGTV waiting for the teenagers to get home.

For some reason, right around 11pm, I had the strangest feeling that something was wrong with one of my boys.  DJ was in Short Mountain at a friends house and Bradley was with another  friend in Nashville at a haunted house.

I started praying that God would protect them and help them make right decisions in what ever situation they were in.  Within 2 minutes of praying, DJ called to say he was in a wreck.  It was really foggy and he didn’t see a stop sign and ran through it, then off the road and hit a tree.  Praise God that he was not hurt.  To that, all I can say is, God is good all the time and all the time God is good!  Praising Him and thanking Him for DJ not getting hurt!
