They Call Me The Hummingbird Whisperer

DSCN0024

On our porch there are two hummingbird feeders that are getting lots of use as of late.  These tiny little creatures can consume lots of hummingbird food, just sayin’!

Yesterday morning I went out before work to refill the feeders and while I was out there there were two little hummingbirds that were flying around me,  impatiently waiting for the feeders to be filled.  Demanding little boogers!

After I got done, I went and got my camera because I wanted to catch a few of these tiny birds on film.  I was standing there clicking away trying my best to get a picture because no matter how hard I tried, these little things are quick.  The funny thing is that my boys were inside laughing at me because there was a slew of humming birds flying around me and at one point I counted six and could not seem to get a picture of one of them.

When I walked inside the boys called me the hummingbird whisperer…for some reason they thought it was funny, I think they are just jealous!!

Unbelievable…

If toes make you queasy, don't look any further because for some, this will be too much to handle.

Now, I am not one who goes around poking fun at other people’s feet, largely because I walk around barefooted more than most and would hate to hear one make fun of my feet.   I hate to wear shoes and usually the first thing I do when getting into my office in the morning is kick off my shoes.  I do however get made fun of being barefooted, but not because the way my feet look.

But there is always an exception to the rule and one day one of our ministers walked into my office with his shoes off.  Why he had his shoes off, I never got around to asking because I was floored at his toes.  I have never in my life seen a toe that was as long as my fingers.  Really…they are huge!

Don’t believe me??  Take a look for yourself…

SDC10130 SDC10129

Yes, I did take a picture…that may be more odd than the long toes themselves, but I am still in complete awe.  Hmm, now that I think about it, I am not sure if I am more shocked that his toes are so long or that he allowed me to snap a picture of them…

Finally A Moment To Catch Up…

After a glorious Saturday to rest, I finally have a moment to catch up on my blog.  We were super busy last weekend with graduation and family in town and then at work, a very super busy week getting ready for VBS to start tomorrow that I have not had a moment to do anything else!

First, graduation was a huge success!!  DJ is graduated and now he is getting ready for college.  I can’t believe that I am old enough to have a son that has completed high school.  Geeze!  Here are some pictures of his big day !

I’m A Failure

All I can say is thank goodness for Monday morning and hallelujah that this weekend is over!  Strange coming from a mom of three wonderful boys and coming off what should of been a fantastic Mother’s Day weekend, except it was not fantastic and my boys were anything but wonderful, well one faired well through the day, the other two bombed big time in the “good son” category!

This post lets you know that I am a failure as a mother and basically at life.  What most mothers woke up to was breakfast in bed, children smiling and handing over homemade cards telling her how much they love her and lots of hugs and kisses for the one that gave them life, and maybe a gift, be it ever small,  a token of appreciation.  But mine were all still snoring in their beds when I finally arose, getting ready for church.  Although when the youngest woke up, he was devastated because I beat him out of the bed and quickly made me toast with strawberry jelly for my special day and handed over a typed out cards, so he gets major brownie points for that!

Then is typical Sunday morning fashion, we all, especially me are screaming at each other.  Why Mother’s day is on Sunday and not Saturday, I will never know.  So basically we left for church in a huff and I can say it pretty much went down hill from there.

All I can say good about yesterday, was I made the most awesome spinach dip EVER on this planet and ate until I was almost sick!  So basically I am a failure as a mother, but ate good!

Anyhoo, so here is to a new day….yay!

Lost & found!

Funny story about my day, but to my faithful 90 day’ers, I forgot to put the post up!  Please forgive me…Let me explain…

When my alarm went off this morning, I decided to hit the snooze, but when it went off again, I did get up out of the bed.  I walked to the bathroom, turned around and crawled back into my bed.  So I slept later than usual.  Me posting the verses for the 90 day journey did not even enter my thought process.

Today I decided instead of going out to lunch, I would walk instead, so I walked through our churches “back 40” which is a field of about 40 acres into a neighborhood of nothing but cul-de-sacs.  To make a long story short, I got lost.  I never get lost, but this time I got lost, BIG TIME!  So I called home to have my husband Google map my location and get me out.  He wasn't home.

So I called my co-worker, Wes.  He mapped my location and because I was really far off from church he came and rescued me!!  My nice little leisure stroll was long and hot!  During my walk I realized that I did not do my post this morning of the verses which brings me here….I will post them tomorrow!!  If you have joined in on this journey, read what you feel is right today and hopefully you will not be that far behind!

All I have to say about today, is thank goodness for modern technology, Google maps and of course Wes!  HA!  I was lost, but now I am found!!  Perfect ending for a perfect weekend!

Remain Seated Until This Post Has Came To A Complete Stop

First, ya’ll it’s a BIG Woo to the Hoo today in Tennessee…50 degree weather….WooooHoooo!

Now buckle your seat belt for a wild ride of a post.  It will make sharp turns to the right, speed down hills at 90 miles an hour and then jerk you back the the left and finally come to a screeching halt!  Yep, I am going to cover lots of stuff!  HA!

I got nails!  No, not the kind you hit with a hammer, but the ones that make your hands all pretty!  See…

SDC10029 (Wow my hands look old and yucky, I need to use more lotion!)

Then I got crazy with the 50 degree weather and pretty nails and chopped my hair off….I mean completely off, like buzzed in the back, short.  It’s so short that my curls turned very tight and I was sporting a ‘fro by the time I got home.

We got us a big ‘ol washing machine!  A Kenmore Oasis!  It’s got a big tub, and y’all and we have gone plumb crazy and have been washing everything…and I mean everything.  Hubby even made everyone take the clothes off their back so he could fill that sucker up!  We’re excited y’all!  Can you tell?

I am worn slap out from planning goat stuff for the Dominican.  There are so many unknowns and things to do, people to talk to and I seem to keep chasing my tail in a complete circle with not much to show for it.  Also the goats seem to be a little more to purchase than I anticipated.  They will be around $400 each.  I am exploring some fundraiser ideas to help us out…any ideas?

I won big at Bunco last night!  I’ve never won before and I am beside myself with joy!  I am ultra competitive and love a good clean win!  HA!

The garage was cleaned today, Higgins got a bath and I am out of paper towels and dishwasher detergent.  I hate that!  Being out of paper towels and dish detergent is what I hate, not the cleaned garage and Higgins smelling all wonderful, that I love!

I’m done, finally!

A Prison Laundry Room Would Of Been More Fun

Our washer quit spinning, bit the dust, sadly it’s being retired to washer heaven.  I think Hubby is done fixing it and since lately he does the laundry, has decided to retire it.  Even though I would love to spend the cash on something fun, I am not complaining, I hate doing laundry and since he is the Grand Puba of the laundry room, it’s his call.

After spending our morning at this lovely establishment, I am not going to argue with him…

DSCN0005

I think prison laundry rooms are a step up from this joint.  Check these out and you’ll agree.  At one point in my picture taking this fella look at me like, “you take my picture and I will Kill You!”  I think he is on the run from the law.  The others in there were looking at me like I was crazy, so I quickly snap a few and quit.

DSCN0004SDC11954

After we sunk $4 bucks in this machine and it didn’t turn on, we opened it and then we really didn’t get our money back.  After that we saw this sign.

DSCN0002

There is $30 some odd bucks rolling around there.

SDC11952

After sinking in over $30 bucks (we lost count after $32.75) and seven loads of laundry, I was a happy camper to be leaving.  I would not wish this on my worse enemy.  The up-side…it’s nice to wash seven loads of laundry in under an hour.

It’s Ba-humbug Day

The scrooge in me could not pass this one up! Yes, this is the Christmas season. Yes, the stockings are hung by the chimney with care. Yes, the fruit cake cookies have been made (and ate). Yes, I have been filled with all the wonders and blessings that this time of year bring. But…can I have just one day?

BA-Humbug!!

There, I feel better!!

Now for y’all that are shaking your heads out there, this is an official day, and according to Wellcats, this day allows everyone preparing for Christmas to vent their frustrations. Twelve ba-humbugs allowed, today only. Who am I to pass up this glorious event?

I am pretty sure there are those out there that never have those moments of frustration with all the craziness this time of year brings. For those out there like me…today you can vent your frustration without shame. But only 12 ba-humbugs and only for today. Real scrooges put a damper on the the Christmas season!

A Senior Moment At Age 37

I think that it’s more of a “D’oh” you are so stupid, more than a senior moment!

This morning as I crawled out of bed, I grabbed my glasses and put them on, like usual and drug my half asleep body to the kitchen for coffee.

I turned on the computer and I was having the hardest time seeing and everything was so blurry.  I just thought I was having a hard time waking up, no worries. as time went on instead of my sight getting better it got worse and I kept rubbing my eyes trying to see if maybe I had sleep in them or something, but nothing help.

An hour rolled by and I thought, hey maybe I am having a brain aneurysm or maybe this is a symptom of a stroke, y’all I am freaking out.

We headed out to buy some shrubs and we picked out and brought what we were getting and crawled back into the truck and I am still stressing telling Jeremy I think something is wrong with me, I hope that I am not getting ready to die, and he, I think is getting a little nervous too, because we are 4 hours into me not being able to see and I am scared!!

Then I lifted my glasses off to rub my eyes again, and when I looked up with out my glasses, I could see perfect.

That’s the when the big “D’oh” hit me….I feel asleep last night and forgot to take my contacts out, so I was wearing my contacts and my glasses at the same time!!!

I think I need a vacation!!

On The Way To Possum Holler I Found Our Dream Tombstone!

As some may know we live on a little mini farm and dabble in the market goat arena.  To elaborate a little more on market goats, they are goats that are raised for meat production.  At one time we had close to 40 goats but over time we sold all but a few.  We started raising market goats as a 4H project and it grew into a love of goats.

I name our goats after friends and church folks!  Some people are totally honored, some mortified when they find out that they will be sold for meat production.  Either way, I still name them after those I know, it is easier to remember their names.

We sell our goats at a place named Possum Holler.  For me it’s easier to go there instead of a sales barn, because we back up the truck to a huge barn and in my perfect world they unload my precious little babies into this glorious building full of other beautiful goats that will be sold to families across America as pets.  I tell myself that to make me feel better and after shedding a few tears, we collect our check and are on our way.  Hubby and the boys make fun of me, I say it’s the girl in me.  So I cry and then I get over myself!  The hard reality of market goats, they are sold for meat.  On an upside they were bringing in $1.20 a pound so the tears were short lived!

Anyhoo, that is what Possum Holler is, a place to sell goats & sheep!  The most amazing thing happened through my tears.  As we were leaving Possum Holler, not even a 1/4 of a mile down the road from them, I noticed something glorious!!  How I never seen this before, I am not sure, but through my tears, I noticed our destiny!

For those who may not know, I have my funeral planned out to a “T”.  I know the songs I want played and everything is planned right down to the wording on the tombstone.  In my mind I always pictured a simple little double headstone, on my side there would be a cat angel above my name with this carved on the tombstone…”God called her home because he was missing an angel”.  I.  LOVE.  IT!

I have always loved cat, hence the cat angel!!  Through my tears I happened to glace over at a little church that had a little cemetery out front.  I noticed something black that had a shape of cats.  I said, OH MY GOODNESS, I think that I see cat tombstones in that cemetery, TURN AROUND!!  Of course the kids moaned and didn’t want hubby to turn around the truck, but when momma has tears, Hubby does whatever will make it better.  Look at this…..

Picture 014 Picture 013

I have to have this!!!  I was doing a little jig right there in front of Randall’s grave!!  Kathy, his wife has the most amazing taste!!  Of course Hubby said the husband had to die first or he would have never agree to a cat tombstone!!  I say, that is some husband!!

Anyhoo, meet our future headstones!!  My most wonderful Hubby has gave me the green light on getting cat headstones for our grave!  That’s a big woo to the hoo!!  Of course I still have to have my saying on there and the part between the the cats will be a flower planter, but that is minor details.

So my funeral is definitely complete!!!  I can now die a very happy woman!

Hug Your Cat Day, YAY!

I know I talk a lot about Higgins on this blog, but not today!  Kind of, not today, since I just mentioned him….not anymore, at least for today!

Today I will talk about the other furry love of my life…..My Abbey-Baby!!  She is the most precious cat that I have ever owned and I will admit the most spoiled rotten kitty this side of the Mississippi!

I am her love, her life and the only thing she loves more than me, is well, FOOD!  She loves her food!  As I made it a rule never to discuss her weight, I will say she is a tad on the fluffy side, ahem!  Of course beside her profound love for food, she loves her momma, her 3rd love, is sleep!

Abbey was born on May 1, 1995, and officially she turned 67 years old in cat years this year!  Here are a few pictures of her…keep in mind, the camera does add extra poundage!!
