Truck One, Deer Zero

Truck - 1

Deer - 0

Last night on Hubby's way home from work, he hit a deer. Poor deer...I took some pictures of the deer, but it was a little too graphic to show on my blog.

My Redneck Rebel, Bradley (middle son) just had to go and get the deer so we could slaughter it. On the way to church we picked it up and how wonderful it is to show up for Sunday worship with a dead carcase in the bed of your truck.

After much discussion and for the fear of the meat being tough from the impact, we have decided to slaughter it for the dogs instead!

By the way, the truck sustained minor damage, mostly to the front and a little on the side and the deer sustained major catastrophic damage and was a 5 point for all y'all hunters out there!

Your page is goregous!!!

I am sorry that your hubs hit a deer! I am sorry your truck suffered damage as well.

We have a ton of deer around here and I actually hit one a few years ago - it lept from one side of the road to the other and I hit it in the butt . . . the crazy thing, it fell to the ground and then got up and ran off. I looked at my SUV for damage - nothing. I hit that dude hard too! My hubs didn't believe me that I hit a deer until . . . we found several Deer Tail Hair in the grill.

The carcaus in the truck bed made me remember a trip we took up north a few years ago. On the interstate we got behind a truck with a deer strapped to the back (literally). After about 10 miles I asked my DH if he would please pass the guy. I just could not stand to see that tongue hanging out any longer. Thank you for NOT eating Bambi! I feel much better know that :}

Aww poor deer:( I am glad Jeremy was not hurt and there was no casualties to his beloved truck:) Shannyn hit one in high school and it totalled her car.

I'm just glad your husband is alright!! The truck doesn't look bad!! I know how easy it is for this to happen... we live in a neighborhood just outside of the capital of our state, but we still have issues with the wildlife around here... The deer don't want to give up their territory!!

Hi! Nice to meet you...
Sorry to hear about the deer and your truck!
Here its illegal to butcher them or even do anything with them if they have been hit. Im surprised its not there?

THank you so much for the info on the "footer" part of my blog :) I will try and remember that.

slaughter is such a horrible word....Brandon told me about that deer. So glad I didn't have to see it. I would have been pretty emotional I am sure!

Down here it is acceptable to show up for church with a deer in your truck bed. And you can wear your cammies into church too but please leave the shotgun in your truck. That's bubba mentality for ya.
We lost one here at work last week. he got into the plant and freaked out and ran right into the fence to try to get out and died. Someone did take it to a processor though.

I think there are laws here too about taking a deer that has been hit but there are higher laws about waste. :)
