Victory Over Trials

Times are trying, but keep you eyes on Him, your focus on Him and have that toe hold faith and keep praising God. That's what I keep saying over and over to myself! You know what kind of faith I am talking about. That hanging at the cliff's edge holding on with your toes dug deep. That is where I am at in this point of my life. Before, I would of been very discouraged, but I have grown and that discouragement is more of a determination now.

It has been a busy week with VBS, if you have ever directed or taught VBS you know what I am talking about. It is a week of waking up early, rushing around trying to get things done and leaving in a rush to get to your class room for the last minute preparations. When the kids show up, I do a 180 and get so excited, but, then the night is gone in a blur and they go home. Then it is rush mode again, running around, cleaning up, rushing home to start all over again.

Yesterday was a particularly trying day. Not to bad in the beginning, but the dread of waking up late knowing what the day entails. When we left for church yesterday afternoon, I ran over one of our goats. As I get out of the truck to see what I could do for this poor fella, it hit me. This goat will need a vet. I tried with all might to do something. I could see the minutes ticking by and kept saying to myself.....going to the vet is going to make you late for VBS or more than that, I might not be able to go at all. So with antibiotics in one hand, a syringe in the other, I came to the realization that this goat needs professional help, not me! We did not even take the time to load the goat gofer, we picked him up, placed him in the truck and off we went to town with goat in tow. Half way there, I realized I forgot the neighbor I was going to pick up, so that was another problem. Oh well I told myself, he will just have to miss tonight!

To make a loooong story short, Goliath (the goat) stayed at the vet, so that only took 10 minutes. So it's 5:15pm, VBS starts at 6pm and it takes 30 minutes to get there. The devil is working here. I know I can make it if I do not go back to pick up the neighbor, but.....I had that pull that I needed to turn around, just be late. So I turned around knowing that it will add an extra 20 minutes. Do you know that I made it to the church at 5:50pm! God must of gave us a wonderful tail wind (or a very leaded foot!)!! Either way, thank you Lord, I guess that was the toe hold faith working there and I am praising You!

Leaving last night, walking through the hall, again the neighbor boy talked about the song, where Jesus was a baby, a Messiah and how much he loved singing it but could not quite remember the words. I had goose bumps! I still have them!

It makes it all worth it, everything my family is going through, the heartache, the stress and just questioning ourselves......makes it all worth wild. Thanks you Jesus!

Here are the words to the song. If your are teaching VBS and using Outriggers Island from Lifeway, I am sure you have heard it.

Once there was a little, bitty baby boy.
He was a gift from God who filled the earth with joy.

And He lived His life perfectly but He chose to die upon a tree
so that you and I could live eternally.

This is what I know about my Jesus.
And this is why I love to celebrate Who He is.

Jesus is Messiah. Jesus is my Savior.
Jesus is the Promised Son of God.

Jesus is amazing. Jesus is worth praising.
Jesus is the only perfect love.

And I'm so glad I know Who He is.
And I want the whole world to know Who Jesus is.

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust You,
how I proved You o'er and o'er.

Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus,
O for grace to trust You more.

Once there was a little, bitty baby boy.
He was a gift from God who filled the earth with joy.
