Getting Ready

It has been some time since I posted my first post and now the second. Of Course I was going to be so dedicated and post everyday about the goings on of our lives, but the reality of it actually happening, well it didn't.

So I thought today was a good day to post. Our family is heading to Gatlinburg tomorrow morning to visit with my husband sister, Jenny, her husband Brad and their son Caleb. We have not seen them in almost two years, which is sad, considering we live in Tennessee and they live in Florida. It just has not worked out for either family to travel one way or the other. So at the last minute we decided to hop on over there to visit while they were vacationing in Tennessee. We are going to Dollywood Wednesday and staying the evening with them Wednesday night, and then spending some time together before we had back home Thursday. It is going to be such a short trip, but we are really looking forward to it.

As I am packing today I can't help but to think about a mission trip DJ, my oldest and I are taking in July. We are going to the Dominican Republic for seven days. On Sunday we got a list of things to take with us and some things to expect while we are there. So packing today, for a fun trip and packing in July for a mission trip is going to be different.

Today, it's about bathing suits, games and fun things and looking forward to all the fun times waiting for us in the mountains. For our mission trip is about packing 100% deet bug spray, toilet paper and supplies for those that are there in the Dominican. A big difference! Not that our time is not going to be fun in the Dominican, but because it is more of the uncertainly and nervousness on what we will be doing, and how we will react to the people in the Dominican and learning about their culture. We can't wait to get there and share our faith while working in impoverished communities and what significant impact that will be for them as well as for ourselves.

Well I thought I would share what was on my mind. Please be in prayer for our family as we are traveling the next couple of days and also for our upcoming mission trip!
