Attention Linda!! ISWYS

How do you treat a hangover from a wonderful wacky carnival called "I See What You're Saying"?

Starbucks!! Not just one, but 2! Yep, that's right, this morning, I went to Starbucks and ordered TWO Grande Peppermint Mocha's, one normal and the other extra hot to make sure it was just like I like it when I got around to drinking it!

So what happens when you drink two Starbucks and then have a staff meeting?? Well I can tell you my eyeballs were beyond floating!! I almost fell trying to get to the bathroom!! TMI, I know!

Anyhoo, what am I trying to get at?? My point here is I love doing the ISWYS carnival!! I am already plotting my next one because my BFF Greg has inspired me! So Linda....Linda....LINDA!! Are you listening??? Get the other one on the calendar so I can execute my video! I already have a staff of videographers standing by to help me!! Yep, I have hired a crew for the next one and I am in the process of getting Higgins wardrobe ordered!! He he!! What fun!!!

The caffeine is really starting to get to me, so I guess I need to end this before I do something crazy!!!

ISWYS - Christmas Edition

First I would like to thank Linda over at 2nd Cup Of Coffee for hosting this carnival. Because of her, my diet now starts today instead of the projected start date of January 5, 2009. My chins, arms and gut says it all....again, thanks Linda!

Next, I will apologize one million times. After uploading the video, my mouth and words do not seem to be acting as one. I am praying that it is my computer and that you will have not problems, but if that is not the case, I will not be offended, if you you have to turn away and not watch. Fortunately, most of my video is not of me, so that helps a lot!!

Last, but certainly not least, I am in the pursuit of finding a good camera, lighting and general HELP for my next performance. Today, I will start running ads in the local paper. I just feel deep down if I had the proper camera, lighting and touch up guy, I would first and foremost look 100 pound slimmer, which of course is my main goal!!

After you are done watching, scoot over to Linda's and watch the countless others that joined in on today's fun!!

Have a great day!!

Bedhead???

The things we will do for a Starbucks gift card!!

Sara from Greeting From Butterville had this crazy idea to host a carnival where we show off our wonderful bedhead. So what would possess anyone to show off their bedhead? Well of course it is for the award and bragging rights, yep, along with a measly Starbucks gift card!!

Folks, not only did I participate in this wonderful carnival, I did so without makeup and no bra, so I think that should give me a leg up!! After looking at these horrifying photos, hop on over to Sara's and join the fun!! Don't forget to vote for me!!

Christmas Eve Excitement

Finally, my Christmas shopping is complete. It was a frightful day outside weather wise, but not very frightful crowd wise, which made my day so much easier. Today's traffic was actually better than most days in the great city of Murfreesboro and the stores were like a Monday morning!! NICE!!!

I woke Hubby up at 6am this morning and were on the road before 7am. There was no one around, which was a great sight for my blood shot eyes!! The only thing that would of made today better was if Starbucks had peppermint flavoring for my all time favorite Peppermint Mocha Latte, (yes, we had time for Starbucks!!) could you believe that this time of the season they were out!! The NERVE!!!

Joey is so excited about Santa's arrival that he has tortured himself into trying to fall asleep at 5:30pm!! Hahahaha! Poor baby....he is so excited and still at this hour, wide awake. He's been trying to fall asleep now for three hours!!

Well, I just wanted to check in and wish everyone a very Merry Christmas Eve!!

A Day Late & A Christmas Present Short!

Yesterday driving into work, this was the temperature.....I know, for all y'all northerners that are laughing because you were 86 degree in the NEGATIVE, and here I complain about it being 9 degrees!! Anyhoo's there it is, 9 degrees, and of course when it drops below freezing I have no water, and when I have water, I am plain just grumpy!!

Which leads me to no Christmas presents!! Ughh! I listened to some of y'all and went yesterday to get a present or two and not wait until the last minute. The first store I stopped at made me mad so I left, and after that I just went home!! So I NEED TO GO CHRISTMAS SHOPPING!! UUGHHHHHH!!

Sorry, I am having a moment! I need to get over myself and get my butt in gear and shop!! Tomorrow is the day, the LAST day, and I will survive.....I hope!!

Weekend Review

Now granted, I think my Higgins is the most beautiful CHI-uauaha in the entire world, but I think after you see him and his fine driving skills that he possesses, you have to agree that not only is he a fine dog, but a very smart one too! I am sure Hollywood will be hot to hire my Higgins!! He he!

Several times Higgins wanted to take over driving, but to his dismay I had to remove him from the wheel. Hubby needed a bathroom break, so here is Higgins on high alert at the rest area.

Besides our quick trip out of state and back, it has just been a dag-gum busy week, and for the life of me, I have nothing to show for my busyiness!! No Christmas present that have been wrapped, because it is hard to wrap presents that you have not PURCHASED yet!! Ughh!! Why have I not been Christmas shopping yet? Well I was going to go Christmas shopping, but I get so irate at irritating people that I simply just give up and leave! Plus, I have not an idea where to start. It is not a good thing!

I did decide that I am going to wait until Wednesday. For those shaking their heads in utter disbelief, wait for my reasoning.....(I think this is a great time for bullets!!)

  • It's Christmas Eve and most folks should be done by now
  • It's Christmas Eve and most folks I am hoping are traveling to their Christmas destination and not out shopping like me
  • The sales should be great
  • Hubby has the day off so he can go
  • There is no need to worry about hiding presents from the kids

So what happens if all of Tennessee is shopping on Christmas Eve, just like me?? I might just shoot myself!

The issues with shopping at the last minute, you ask? Well I need to be spot on, because there is no coming back the next day to find that perfect gift...because there will be no more days to find that perfect gift! Ughhhhhh, I am stressed!!!

Okay, I have worn myself out talking about Christmas shopping, I am crazy and I am totally sure I will regret this day for the rest of my life!!

So, let me tell you about the wonderful "here's you sign" moment!! Our church does this beautiful drive-thru live nativity each year. When you pull into out circular drive at church you will see host of angels dancing and celebrating the birth of the Messiah. After the angels there are the shepherds tending to their flocks. A little ways beyond that is the manger with Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus. Of course there is the donkey that carried Mary all the way to Bethlehem and a few farm animals giving up their space for the special baby and His family. After you round the corner, you are greeted by the three Wisemen with their camels.

It is so moving that the hair on your arms are raised as your travel through. I would love to show you the beautiful pictures of our Living Nativity, but I dropped my camera on the way outand for some odd reason could not get it to take pictures. Go figure!

So where is the "here's your sign" moment I was talking about? Well after it was all over and we were cleaning up, someone brought me a memory card that was found on the floor of the church. I told them I would find out who the card belonged to, so off on the great quest to find that person.

I asked the first person if they had a digital camera so I could put the card into it and see if we could recognized anyone. They did not have a camera, so I went to about three people and no luck, no one had a camera. I finally ended up in the hospitality room where there was a large crowd gathered (food, enough said) and lucky me found someone with a camera, so in we popped the card and started looking at the pictures. She told me that it was just a few of the Wisemen and Shepherds getting ready. I looked through the pictures with her and the first one was of a cat. Wow, I thought to myself, that looks just like my cat, how odd! After a few more click of pictures, I realized it was my memory card!! UGHHHHH!!

Enough said, I wear my sign with pride!!!!

Whew! I Am Still Alive!!

I thought I would check in and let everyone know that I have not fallen off the face of the earth!

After an extremely busy week, a whirlwind trip yesterday out of state and back today, Living Nativity at church, rain (which means no Internet) and total lack of Christmas shopping, I am still here (unfortunately)!!

I can't wait to fill everyone in on my wild adventure the last few days, but I am in-between rains clouds at this very moment.

I will back tomorrow with details & pictures!!

Have a great evening!!

Birthdays, Reindeers & Sweets, OH MY!

BIRTHDAYS

Today is Hubby's Birthday!! Yippee!!

It was a little bit of a hectic day. Jeremy works 2nd shift so he did not crawl into bed until around 1 am last night. Now that I am working and the older boys are in high school, it makes an adventurous day of festivities. So this morning DJ made his dad chocolate muffins, and then we woke him up at 6:30am to open presents!

After that Hubby went back to bed and we were off to work and school. The boys had mid-terms so they got out of school early today so we all met at Olive Garden for lunch! Busy, busy day, but we do what we have to do to squeeze in time for celebrations!! Of course I forgot my camera so no pictures of all the fun!

REINDEER'S

My dear BFF Greg sent me these wonderful little critters!! The reindeer's are made from Christmas lights and they have a pin on the back where you can wear them!! Greg, oh how exciting it is to receive something soooo cute, and I want you to know that I am going to pay one forward!

Since I am surrounded by a house full of boys, and I am sure that I would never get one of my teenagers to wear one of these, I am taking the other to work to give to Connie! She is the other Ministry Assistant at my work and everyday she wears a different Christmas pin, and I am excited to share in my wealth!! We will match! So Greg, thanks so much! If I can remember I am going to take my camera to work and hopefully I will remember to snap a picture!!

SWEETS & TREATS

Instead of making a cake for Hubby's birthday, I made his favorite.....magic cookie bars! By the looks of this picture, you can tell that we like the middle for some odd reason!!

Yesterday, Hubby had a Christmas party at work and while playing the Dirty Santa game, he stole a towering box of chocolates. Goodness, my butt is growing by the second this season!!

Now this is special!! Remember how we got Higgins?? If you did not read my blog back then, Bradley went to volunteer his time at a dog rescue shelter. He got a little confused and although he did clean out cages, weed-eated and did other chores around the shelter, he gave way more than his time, he took Higgins off their hands! Of course at the time I was not a happy camper about having another dog to invade my house, but now......OH MY GOODNESS......I love my Higgies!!!

Anyhoo, the lady that runs the shelter, made my Higgies homemade dog treats! She sent a whole bag for him to share with others! They are cute little bones and hearts and you would think they are made from steak or something, because they love them!! So at least my butt is not the only one expanding around this house, the dogs are packing it on too!!

Well to my dismay, while I was typing my post and telling you how wonderful Higgins is, he decided to go outside to do his nightly constitution and also roll around in horse poo, so now I have to give him a bath! UGHH!

What Is Wrong With This Tree??

Our Living Room Christmas Tree

Do you see anything wrong with it?

Exhibit A

Now take a closer look......

Another look from this angle.....

One final look....

I wonder who could be stealing all the flowers and ornaments
from the bottom of my Christmas tree?

Exhibit B

It has been a constant battle this year. Higgins is worse than a two year old!! If he was not so cute and if I did not love him so much, I might of killed him already!!

Exiting the court room....

Look what I got in the mail today!! Katie made this beautiful plate Christmas clock for me and I am so excited!

I need to find the most perfect place to hang it! Thanks so much Katie!! I love it!

12 Days Of Christmas!

I just posted this on our ladies blog at church, but I thought I would share this with everyone on my blog also! It is so true for this time of the year, and with all the craziness that comes, we tend to forget the real Reason for this wonderful Season!

Just a little funny to brighten your day!

Through A Child's Eyes

Christmas through a child's eyes. I wish I could go back and look through Joey's 10 year old eyes and see the magic of Christmas. As an adult I think sometimes we forget through the hustle and madness that this time of year brings that children really have it way more together than us adults. I think I will steal Greg's theory on people that inhabit this earth with us "I believe that there are morons among us", well Greg I am right there with you!

I started putting up Christmas decorations around our home, a little bit this week. I usually put a tree up in every room, but this year decided not to. I have been a little slow getting things ship shape and maybe even a little slower in getting those beautiful decorations up. Each year after Thanksgiving, the turkey is not even cold and we start yanking out all the Christmas decorations and start going hog wild. Not this year. Things are different, the excitement not as great. So instead of the usual gusto there seems to be a fizz.

NOT ANYMORE!! Starting this past weekend, we are back to ourselves with the magic of Christmas!! It takes an event to snap our adult butts into gear, and I got the snap a few days ago.

The most important thing about Christmas is the fact that our Lord sent His Son to save us from our sins. Wonderful Counselor, Prince of Peace, Mighty God, Everlasting. That is the reason we celebrate Christmas.

Our home celebrates the birth of our Savior, but we also celebrate the magic of Santa. Of course our teenagers do not share in the magic anymore, but Joey, oh how his eyes dance at the possibility of Santa fitting his big 'ol rump down our chimney! He loves the fact the he can not fall asleep on Christmas Eve night for the excitement of what Santa will bring. The fun of baking cookies and setting out baby carrots for the reindeer's and a tall glass of egg nog along with the special cookies that he worked so hard on! The excitement of counting down the days before Christmas and wishing for that special gift!

I found our chalk board slate that has a Santa on it last week. Each day you erase the day and fill in another on the countdown. Of course that is Joey's job and each morning he does not skip a beat. His excitement spills over when he tells others it's this many days until Christmas, and at times we have to remind him that you have told us this 15 times already, but you know what, I can remember the days that I was just like him.

My point here? You know me by now and at times I seem to ramble but there are those that just do not think. It's not their fault....I guess, they forget that words hurt little ones and sometimes it squashes that excitement! Like I said, not anymore, we are excited that there are 17 days left before Christmas!!

So celebrate Christmas through a child's eyes this year, you will be amazed of what we have forgotten as we have turned into adults! We have forgotten the excitement, or at least some have.....

Have a great & blessed day!

Dominican Republic Mission Trip 2009

Today after morning worship we had a meeting to discuss the 2009 Dominican Republic Mission Trip. The dates are set and this year we will be there on July 11th through 18th.

This year will be a little different from last year. Last year we stayed at a dorm style facility. There was a generator that ran lights for a few hours each day. We had cold water showers, and a bathroom. It was a little bit rough but most anyone could handle it for a week. There were two mini buses, that took us to La Represa, the village that we worked in each day. All in all, if you could get past the cold showers it was not bad at all.

This year we will be working in a village named San Cristabel (I hope that I am spelling that correctly). It was described today as almost like a State with seven smaller community built around it. It is much more improvised than the village that we worked in this year. We will not have beds, running water, and I am assuming bathrooms like this year. We were told that we could bathe in the river that runs through the village, but for obvious reasons and diseases that our bodies may not be accustom to, we will make due with other means.

The travel will be different this year also. Last year we had mini buses that took us to the village each day. This year, after leaving the airport, a mini bus will talk us as far as it can get us. Then we will have to transfer to pick-up trucks that will take us the rest of the way. Where we will be staying, is a 30 minute walk through the jungle to get where we will be working each day.
Of course I think this will be very cool, because this time it really gives me time to prepare for each day mentally and then on the way back, time to wind down from the emotions that build up while there.

Needless to say we will not have the posh accommodations like we had this year, and this year was a stretch for most of us.

There are a few bumps in the road this upcoming trip, so I was wanting to ask for prayers from y'all. A few things that might make it difficult for us are:
  • The airlines are not wanting or willing to accommodate a large group as they have in the past. Our group may have to split and travel two separate days.
  • We need 25 to go. With the economy the way it is, some people that went last year, may not be able to go because of funds this year, us included.

This year my oldest son, DJ and I went and both are really wanting to go back this year. We also have a few hurdles to jump, so please be in prayer for these:

  • Money.....it was very difficult last year for us both to go. The trip is $1800.00 each, so please be in prayer as we start mailing out support letters and start fundraisers at the beginning of the year. It may be we both can not go, but only one of us.
  • DJ has applied for a governor school, that may interfere with him going. There were three that he applied for, one will overlap into the mission trip. Please pray for one, that he gets accepted in this school, because it is a wonderful opportunity and 8 college credit hours, and secondary that if he gets accepted into one that the one he accepts will not overlap into the mission trip.
  • It may not be meant for DJ (or myself) to travel this year to the DR for this mission trip and if that be the case, please pray for peace and wisdom to accept that.
  • Most importantly please be in prayer for the group that is going to minister, and for those that will be ministered to.

This year was a life change experience for me. Some can not believe that I went and there are others that can not believe that I want to go back, especially now that this year will be a rougher accommodations than last. All I can say, is you just do not know how my heart breaks and aches to be back there.

We go to build relationships, build churches, communities and to minister. But what most do not realize is how much these people minister to us. I can not explain it but as to say, no matter how rough the accommodations are, I would go in a heart beat. I have no fears (well maybe the flying still freaks me out) and I am ready to go again.

All I can think of is when we got this this year, those who have been praying for years for someone, anyone to come, we came. The gratitude, the love, the up most hospitality they showed us. I could not help but to think, I have done nothing for you as you have done for me. Wow, a life changing event. I could go on and on, and my words just do not express my feelings.

Thanks in advance for the prayers!!

Let The Games Begin!!

Excuse the picture, it's a little blurry because it was taken with my phone. The picture is not the point here!!

Can you see it??

How about now???

Yep, as I unlocked my office this morning, pushed the door opened, turned on the light and this is what greeted me!!!

Luckily, I was on my phone, so I only jumped! Again, luckily I was on my phone talking to someone and I did not scream!!

So who is the culprit? At first I blamed it on the associate pastor, Mike, because just maybe he thought it would be a good way to prepare me for the mission trip back to the Dominican. You, know this year we will have a 30 minute hike through the jungle each day to get where were going. Nope, wasn't him!

Next one one my list, Wes, the tech guy! Yesterday I played a little funny on him and put something into the preliminary bulletin for him, not the actual one, but the preliminary one. If it was him, I would hardly deserve a prank like this!

Nope, not him.......so who could it be???

It was Brent, the worship pastor! Da da dummmmmmmm!

Did I mention that I have this evil witty personality and I love a good game??

Insert evil laugh here......I can't wait, my mind is reeling, I will get revenge.......insert evil laugh again!!

This Is Wrong!!

I am sure you have heard by now about the man that died working a temporary job at Wal-Mart on Black Friday. If not, you can check out the article here.

What is happening here? I know our country is in a financial crisis, but is it worth a life to save a couple of bucks for a Christmas gift? For the life of me, I can not even wrap my brain around this one.

Did they stop to help this poor man? Did they not feel themselves stepping on someone? Geeze, I know that it was around 2,000 shoppers but my goodness, is human life worth the sale?

Okay Wal-mart you are not off the hook on this one either. In the article it states "We are saddened to report that a gentleman who was working for a temporary agency on our behalf died at the store and a few other customers were injured. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families at this difficult time."

If Wal-Mart was so saddened, after a worker lies dying on the floor of this store could they issue a statement over the intercom and tell shoppers to exit the store and close the doors for the day? No, sales and the almighty dollar are far more important than life. As this poor man lay dying they continued raking in money for sales.

UUGGHHHHHHHHH! This blows my mind, I can not understand this!!

I could not in good conscience, give a gift to someone that I purchased at this Wal-mart, knowing that a man lost his life for it!! Am I the only one bothered by this???

Dare To Wear

Mama Belle
over at Bayou Belle and Their Beau hosted this little nightmare, I mean fun little thing called Dare to Wear. Of course I am up to any challenge and everyday for me is a Dare to Wear day because I just close my eyes and pick something and pray that it will fit!!

So what did I Dare to Wear today?? I brought these funny looking sock that go beyond the knee from a yard sale. Okay, I am getting past this, I purchased them from a YARD SALE for a dollar!!

They were never worn and still in the package. Only if that person would of met Mama Belle she would of never sold them but wore them herself and posted her picture on a blog for the world to see!! Shucks!!

Anyhoo, this is a total bad mistake for me. Let me use bullets to explain why.....

  • Round people should not wear stripes
  • Most importantly stripes on fat stubby legs
  • They made my legs look like really round stuffed sauages stuffed into striped socks!

I could really go on and on here, but I will stop!

I really liked these long socks and they look cute with a demin shirt but I really need to lose an ounce or two before I wear this again!!

Focus Of Thanksgivng

Okay, it is officially the day after Thanksgiving, and to be more specific, Black Friday. No shopping for us today, we will spend one more day with our family before they head back home.

It has been a wonderful day, a few "oh no's" here and there, so let me throw a bullet or two in here to explain:

  • Hubby is sick, really bad sinus garbage, and really didn't have the thankfulness thing going on.
  • Forgot to put poultry seasoning in the dressing, so it was a tad bland.
  • Two of the kids broke out in a fight today, so mom had to throw a mini melt down.
  • Two runs to the store to get things we forgot for our Thanksgiving feast.
  • Lack of love from some made sad moments today.

I know what you're thinking, geeze, here it is the day after Thanksgiving and this girl is complaining. No, I am not complaining, I just thought I would share with you the unfortunate before the really good stuff.

So, here is me, really liking the bullet thing, so here are the things I want to share that touched my heart today:

  • Hubby, even though he was sick, was here, not working, as he usually has to on Thanksgiving.
  • Family that was here, and I mean really here, for us, in every way that mattered.
  • The kids playing and having a good time.
  • Beautiful weather.
  • Games and laughter.
  • Dressing that was lacking in the taste department.

It's late here and everyone has just headed off to bed, but me. Tonight, we sat around the table and talked about our country, God, church and the mission trip that I went on this summer. I can't seem to get that out of my mind.

Tough times. Raw emotions. Uncertainties. The unknown. Heartache. Weariness. This could go on and on, and sometimes I can get so worked up and expect things to happen and they do not. So I tend to be pessimistic and upset and get hard on myself.

Tonight, after the long day of festivities and really comes down to me. I expected something to happen today, it didn't. For a while I was throwing myself a small pity party for one. You know something?? I need to get over that, so I did and I moved on. There are more important things in life to focus on and tonight, I am moving forward.

My heart is heavy and not for the garbage of my family. I am moving on from that. I am missing the focus of my ministry of missions. It has been 124 days since we have been home from our mission trip to the Dominican. What has happened in 124 days?

Tough times, raw emotions, uncertainties, the unknown, heartache, weariness. What should of been happening in the 124 day since our trip? Not that!!

I was telling Jenny & Brad tonight about a women I met when I was in the Dominican. Her name was Juanita, and I had built a relationship with her and could not wait until Thursday when I would have the chance to make a visit to her home and get to meet her husband, her children and see where she lived. I could hardly wait to catch that glimpse into her life.

Our interpreter took me to a home and instead of the Juanita I had spent three days with, I met another Juanita. She was very shy and withdrawn, not the Juanita I knew but another Juanita. I was a little disappointed because I really wanted to visit the women that I made the connection with, but God really needed me to meet her. The visit was great and I told her I would be back the next day to bring her a Bible because she did not have one.

I didn't get to go back to her home the next day and I was so upset. I remember pulling out of the village on that Friday afternoon so heart broken that I did not get to see her. I did give her Bible the Juanita that I made the connection with and she promised to get it to her, but still it was not the same.

So where am I going with this? I have focus back. Strange, because just a few hours ago, I was depressed, wallowing in self pity, selfish and downright ugly. I am ashamed.

Here I am in my home, surrounded by family, the people that care and love me. Food on my table, seasoned correctly or not, I have food. Drinkable water. Heat, electricity, a shower with hot water.

What about those precious people that I met this summer, where were they today? Were they throwing themselves a pity party?

These people I met this summer have nothing, but they are so happy, grateful and most importantly thankful. Thankful to God, thankful because we came after praying for 13 years for Him to send somebody, anybody. Where was I 13 years ago? Have I ever prayed earnestly for anything for 13 days much least 13 years?

Tonight I am thankful that I was able to spend 9 days with people that are not so wrapped up in life that they miss out on everything that is important.

Today, I am thankful for not what I do not have, but for what I do.

Thank you God, for my blessings. Big or small, today or 13 years from now, Thank you for loving me. Thank you for sending me to the Dominican to meet Juanita, both of them. Thank you for allowing her to have a Bible, even though I could not give it to her, she was able to receive it from a dear woman that I was able to meet and make a connection with. A woman that loves the Lord so much, that reassured me that she would get that Bible to this woman for me. That's the most important thing. Planting seeds for You. That is where the focus should be.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Hey Paco.....It's a Chalupa!

As you know Jeremy's sister, brother-in-law and our nephew made their grand entrance into Tennessee on Saturday night. So what is more exciting than coming to visit us??

Meeting Higgins!! Yep, this fine specimen of a dog will make any one's heart leap with joy!! Look how this man-tascially fine dog poses for his picture. Goodness, how could you not love a face like this???

Higgins being the most wonderful dog in the world, of course shows great hospitality to our guest with begging for back rubs, keeping their laps warm and of course serenading them with his loud snoring. What else could anyone want??

But some, can be so rude......yep, poor Higgies has been the topic of endless jokes. I know, say it's not so, how could anyone tease this poor baby. They call him Paco, Chalupa and other nasty names. No bother, Higgins being the upstanding dog he is, holds no grudges. How could he, take a look at their dog!!

Believe it or not this is a dog, not a lady bug!! Some people.........they just don't know a fine dog when they see one. It must be pure jealousy!! Totally joking here folks!!!!!

Anyhoo, so what else have we been up to this week? We taught Brad a new game, Race Horse Rummy! Of course again, taking notes from Higgins, I have totally let everyone win. I would hate to mean to those that are just learning a new game. I know, what a saint!! Here is picture of our nightly card game!

Not a flattering picture, but Jenny was not to thrilled of the one I posted of her, so again, being a good sport here, I posted one that was not flattering of myself either! We are now even!!

After work today Jenny and I will be conquering the crowds at the grocery store, please pray, those Thanksgiving shoppers can be brutal!!

They Have Arrived

Brad, Jenny & our nephew Caleb have arrived, so let the Thanksgiving festivities begin! Hubby's sister and her family made it in last night and almost all the laundry was done!!

That's big woo to the hoo!!

First thing, Abbey my wonderful spoiled rotten pussy cat, goes straight to Jenny. Jenny was her first mom until we stole her away at a tender age of 6 weeks, but Abbey still loves Jenny! Actually Abbey loves anyone who will hold her big 'ol butt!

(When Jenny sees that I put this picture up, she will kill me!!) He he!

Here is picture of our nephew, Caleb. Joey was waiting for him all day to arrive! So what do you think happens when he gets here? Tons of hugs and kisses for Auntie? Nooooooooo! Hugs and kisses for Uncle????? Noooooooo!

He comes and and runs off with Joey! The nerve!!

They played until after 11 o'clock last night, and would still be going strong if we did not stop them!

So when they woke up this morning, were there hugs and kisses for Auntie and Uncle??? NOOOOOOOO!!! It's all about Joey!

Bullets

Just let me start off with a big 'ol

UGGHHHHHHHHHHH!

Yep, I am aggravated and just maybe a little ill. Why, you ask?

Let me explain with a few bullets....don't duck I am not shooting anyone, I am talking about the cute little dots that sometimes makes my life ever so happy! A few reasons for my pity party of one:
  • My throbbing headache that is raging in my head.
  • My heavy eyelids that would love to connect with the bottom half to fall into a deep slumber.
  • The laundry that is piled up on the floor that would love to be washed, but can not because of the 17 degree weather that has frozen my water line.
  • The family that is heading up my way and will be here in less than 24 hours.
  • That same family that will be walking into my home, thinking to themselves that I never wash laundry.
  • My dog, who is snoring so loud, and is really upsetting me because he is in the deep slumber that I am longing to be in.
  • My DVR that decided to die the last 10 minutes of CSI where I could not hear, but only watch what was going on.
  • The same DVR that regained it's voice as soon as that show was over to announce the commercial that followed.

OK, I know. 'Tis the season of Thanksgiving. The pity party needs to be over, clean it up and move on right? To that, let me again say

UUGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

For the fun of it, let throw a few more bullets in! Reasons I should be thankful:

  • Eventually I will fall asleep!
  • Our wonderful family that will be here in less than 24 hours.
  • That same wonderful family that will be here in less than 24 hours and how they will not snicker and point. They will wait until I am not looking and talk bad behind my back for not doing my laundry on nights when the temperature is above 32.
  • That same family (sis-in-law) with that wonderful OCD that I long to inherit will help me wash that mount Everest size load(s) of laundry!
  • Hubby survived his epidural this afternoon and is resting comfortably snoring loudly in our bed.
  • Our children one day will have children of their own to drive them nuts to shower them with love.
  • The wonderful potato soup that I will be making tomorrow. Yum-O!

So I guess I need to get over myself and be happy, huh?? Yep, I am getting better because that wonderful pain pill that I took to get rid of my headache will be kicking in soon and I will be ready for bed, FINALLY!!

So I am off to join Hubby and Higgies and hopefully I will be snoring as loudly as they are in just a few minutes!

Have a great evening!

Works For Me Wednesday

Lofthouse Sugar Cookies

Have you tried these wonderfully, decadent, thigh-thickening, butt-busting, no longer able to button your pants, 180 calories per one cookie, pure yumminess yet???

If not, you need to stop and smell the sugar!!

These bad boys are so soft, so incredibly delicious that they melt in your mouth, almost like cotton candy and hot Krispy Creams combined! It is so hard to just eat one!

Then after you read the nutrition facts, you'll fall to the floor in the fetal position and cry yourself to sleep, because you realize that after eating the whole box you just consumed enough calories to last you a lifetime!

If you have not had them, try 'em and after you wake up from your sugar induced coma, let me know how much you love 'em!!

Fall Retreat, Crab Legs & Oysters, Pre-Med Big $$

Weekend Review!!

Our weekend has been a very busy, full weekend! First I will start with the 5th & 6th Grade Fall retreat. Joey & Victoria went on their first retreat together! They are best cousins, so naturally they would embark on their first overnight big adventure with each other! Joey was ready for the adventure, but Victoria was a little more hesitant. If you can enlarge the picture it will show a few tears in her eyes.

There was a glitch so instead of them leaving the church at 6:30 pm Friday night, they ended up leaving an hour late which gave Victoria some serious thinking time, and if she got her way she would of backed out!

Time came, she went and a fantastic time was had by all!! I did not get a picture of them returning, but there were no tears this time, only smiles and non-stop talking all the way home!!

As soon as we dropped them off, we headed to Chef Wangs, a local Chinese place that serves crab legs and raw oyster on Friday & Saturday nights. Here are a few pictures of Annette & DJ getting ready to chow down and also my plate of wonderful, yummy crab legs & oysters!!

So what could ruin such a yummy meal, you ask?? The fortune cookie!! Everyone got the usual wonderfully witty fortune but me. I was absolutely devastated by mine. In my whole life of eating Chinese food I have never had a fortune cookie like this!! It said:

Keep Mouth Shut

It just made me mad!! The nerve!! What happened to the up beat, "you'll have a great life and prosper" stuff?? Give me a break! Of course Annette & DJ thought it was fitting and the funnest thing! Again, the NERVE!!

Next on the weekend adventure, was the tour of the Belmont University in Nashville. DJ our oldest has it narrowed down to three colleges and Belmont is in the middle, price wise and his pick, so Belmont was first on our tour of colleges.

It was an ever chilly day, and guess who forgot their jacket at home?? Of course it was me, so Hubby, being so mantasiclly wonderful, let me wear his for the day!! I love him!!

The college was beautiful and our tour started with check in and of course the morning Welcome & Information session. Belmont does not fool around, as we sat in the Curb Event Center Arena, we were welcomed by the president and then they got busy with the Admissions & Financial Process! Whoa mama! They do not waste any time and right up front you know that Belmont University comes with a nice little price tag!

Of course DJ is going into the Pre-Med program so his first four years at Belmont will be at a hefty price tag of $29,310 per academic year! Yep that's a whopping....

$29,310

Let me remind you that is $117,240 for four years. He will still have to transfer to medical school for an additional 4 to 8 years depending on which field he is going into!!

DJ's school of choice is Vanderbilt, but if Belmont is this pricey I can only imagine the wonderful price tag of Vandy!!

I really like Belmont even with the hefty price tag. The class size is small with usually 15-20 students per class with the biggest class being no more than 35 students. The campus is beautiful and I love the fact that he is not to far from home. It only took a little over a hour to get their, so weekend commutes will be a must! The acceptance rate to med school from Belmont is 100%, so that is an added plus! Goodness after spending close to $120,000 for college he better get accepted into med school!

We will visit his #3 on list in December, and we will save the big one for last. He has not set up the date for the tour of Vanderbilt, but I am sure that one is soon to follow. Now we need to get busy finding some wonderful financial aid and scholarships.....fun, fun!

That pretty much winds down our fun and exciting weekend, hope you had a good one as well!

It's A Meme!

Ok I stole this from Linda over at 2nd Cup of Coffee. I thought it would be fun to do....so here I go!

What is your writing process? I am assuming this writing process the question is asking is for my blog...if not I am going to answer it for my blog!! My writing process for my blog is just plain and simply, my life! I blog about the kids, things they do, things that happen during the day, something Jeremy may of said or did, animals, someting funny or unusul that I might see or any random thought that may cross my mind! The random thoughts are the scariest of posts!!

What are your greatest creative inspirations? I guess the greatest creative inspirations are the kids and crazy things they may do or say. Another creative inspiration is our looney animals. We have so many they are bond to do something funny or stupid and I jump on the chance to blog about it!

What are you greatest creative barriers? When life gets boring and nothing is going on!! Usually that is not the case. Mostly it is lack of time to blog!

What is your favorite word? I have two, one is "Good Government" and the other is "Bless". I say them both a lot. Usually "Good Government" is a word I use when I am aggravated or just joking around when someone wants me to do something. I say "Bless" all the time when someone is not getting their way.

What is your least favorite word? I do not like "sucks". I really hate it when one of my kids say it.

What sound or noise do you love? I love the sound of birds singing in the morning and crickets chirping at night. It is so surreal to me for some reason and I can just get lost in the sounds.

What sound so you hate? I hate to hear someone picking their nails!!! UGHHHH! Also I hate with a mad passion to hear a child/teenager being disrespectful to adults....it really gets me angry!

What is your favorite curse word? I used to think that this was not a curse word and I loved to say it until one of my kids said it one day and it was so ugly coming from their mouths. It is pi**, you know like in pee.

A song/band/type of music you'd risk wreck & injury to turn off when it comes on the radio? It is rap, I just can't stand it and the other would be really heavy metal rock. I can not understand anything they are screaming!

Favorite movie? Dirty Dancing. I have watched it more times that I can even count!

Favorite room in the house? I guess it will have to be the kitchen. This is where we always seem to land as a family for family pow-wows and togetherness. There is one exception, when Lost is on TV, the living room is the favorite for the family!

Best concert? Well I have only been to one, so I will have to say The Damn Yankees and Lynyrd Skynyrd. I went for my 18th birthday, 3rd row center and caught his gutair pick!

Brass or Strings? I will have to say strings. I love the sound of guitars, banjo's, harps and violins.

If you could have anything put on a t-shirt what would it be? This one is a tough one, I guess right now with how I am feeling is "don't laugh, your kids will be teenagers one day"!

The best part about being your age? Well I guess it would be that I am this age. Every year that passes, something else seems to break on my body. The rate I am going, I will be worried slapped to death about Higgies getting caught in the spokes of my wheel chair!! BTW, the other greatest thing about being my age, is all my friends are older than me!! He he! I Love being the youngest

Favorite Girl Scout Cookie? Thin Mints

Poker, Gin or Bridge? I would have to say Rummy! Yep, that was not one of options to choose from, but I love rummy, especially Race Horse rummy! If I had to pick from the list, it would be poker. I really love poker too.

Showers or baths? I love taking big 'ol yummy, scrumptious, bubble baths!!

A talent you wish you had? I wish I could sing. I can sing, but I wish that I could sing without birds dropping to their deaths. Yep, it's that bad! It's so bad that the dogs don't even howl, they just run and hide!! I have told our children since they were young that I was saving my voice for my career. I think they are beyond ready for my career to begin!!

Dream vacation? Right now, anywhere but here! I Love home, but it takes a wonderfully long vacation to appreciate it!

What is on your nightstand? Lamp, books, pictures and dog snacks.

OK guys, it's your turn! Grab this meme and give me a shout so I can read your answers!

Have a great weekend!

Happy Birthday Dad

Today is Dad's birthday.

November 13 a day that has always been one of my favorite days of the year. A day where I look forward to trying to be the first to call him to wish him a Happy Birthday and a day that was set aside for celebration. Celebrating a day that my dad welcomed another year.

Wow, I had to really dig deep to find this photo. I know that I had it in my vast, endless black hole of unorganized chaos that I call my picture trunk!! But I found it, and this picture shows best the true love that is between a daddy and a baby girl. If my dad was around, there I would be, stuck up his butt, so close that you would have to pry me away with a crowbar.

Today I will quietly celebrate my dad's birthday by myself. Sure I will call, but there will be no great fanfare like birthday's in the past, just a plain simple call to wish him the greatest and happiest birthdays.

It's not happy, not the day I would of envisioned. My parents do not agree with something I did. Bridges burned over something so stupid, you would think that they would be proud of my family, but not this time. Instead of forgiveness being the greatest thing it turned my family against me. Go figure.

Anyways, Happy Birthday Dad, have a great one!

Truck One, Deer Zero

Truck - 1

Deer - 0

Last night on Hubby's way home from work, he hit a deer. Poor deer...I took some pictures of the deer, but it was a little too graphic to show on my blog.

My Redneck Rebel, Bradley (middle son) just had to go and get the deer so we could slaughter it. On the way to church we picked it up and how wonderful it is to show up for Sunday worship with a dead carcase in the bed of your truck.

After much discussion and for the fear of the meat being tough from the impact, we have decided to slaughter it for the dogs instead!

By the way, the truck sustained minor damage, mostly to the front and a little on the side and the deer sustained major catastrophic damage and was a 5 point for all y'all hunters out there!
